Some details from my own home renovation

It took awhile to find exactly I envisioned for the floor in the kids' bathroom. We finally decided on a porcelain tile that has the same appearance of marble (without the shine) but it also has veins of slightly warmer brownish tones which I personally love.

Different textures used in this bathroom: White glossy subway tile with a row of Morroccan tiles in the shower, toile shower curtain (I forgot I had this Restoration Hardware gem tucked away in a box), wall color that's a cross between green-gray and blue-gray (Sherwin Williams "Quietude"), window molding, and wooden shades. I love how it all came together.

I'm going to dedicate an entire post to this bath redo and will go in to more details, but this vanity was originally a very unattractive dresser that I personally transformed. While it still needs some tweaking, I do love it.

I instantly fell in love with this Spanish tile wallpaper and insisted that I use it in my dining room. Literally, when we had NO walls, electricity, flooring, etc, I had already purchased all of the rolls I needed. I personally hung it myself but don't look too closely! I also wanted to incorporate a bit of a "theme" that represents who we are as a family so I searched for vintage Ocala postcards that I then blew up and framed for this room. I love the arrangement so much that I'm in the process of adding four more; two on each side.

One of the things that my husband and I like about the restoration process is taking what is already in an existing home, embracing it, and making it even better. The previous owners of our old dining room had a very formal approach to this space but we had bigger plans for it; we wanted to add some custom elements that made it stand out even more so we worked with our contractor to add these details. There are more layers than the usual wainscoting that you typically see in homes. I believe four different types and widths of molding was used to give it this rich look that we love.

I've tamed down "busy" wall hangings over the years and have really taken a liking to adding just a few stand-out pieces in each space. We have one fairly long hallway leading to the bedrooms so I decided to use this area to showcase the kids. While I'm still waiting to get more professional close-ups taken, I still like that these photos truly represent the personality of each my children. I had them blown up and put in these thick 3D-like frames that are simple yet bold. We even have some fun decorating them for various holidays.
